Manuel Quintano is a historical figure, born in the 18th century in Labastida, who became the forerunner of modern Rioja, as we know him today. Bodegas y Viñedos Labastida wanted to pay tribute to his figure with the Quintano Family Wines project. The old vineyard owned, the artisan elaborations in small open tanks and the aging in the best French oak barrels are the hallmarks of the winery’s ambitious new project.
Made with Tempranillo grapes from the upper area of Labastida (500-670 masl) from vineyards over 40 years old. Pre-fermentative cold maceration for 4 days and subsequent spontaneous fermentation in small open tanks, each plot being made separately with manual pumping over and trampling. Subsequent aging for 16 months in French oak barrels.
Cherry color with great layer. Aromas of red and black fruit mixed with balsamic and menthol touches. Subtle and elegant presence of wood on the nose. Powerful and of great volume in the mouth, with a very long finish and high persistence. Wood, well integrated brings finesse and elegance.
