As its main value Solagüen Reserva boasts vineyards age of approximately of 55 years, cultivated at an altitude of between 500 and 600 metres, within 80 owned hectares located in the east of Labastida, in Rioja Alavesa.
Made with 100% Tempranillo grape, the clusters were selected by hand and, therefore, it is of limited production. Having entered the winery, the grapes had their stems removed and had a cold maceration for 36 hours. They were later placed into stainless steel tanks in order to perform alcoholic fermentation with thermal control at 26°C to preserve its varietal and fruit attributes as much as possible. After 12-day maceration, the second malolactic fermentation was performed spontaneously. The wine was aged in 30% French and 70% American oak barrels for 18 months and stirred every 6 months, completing the process with 12-month bottle maturation before its commercialization.
It has a cherry colour with maroon shades, with a well-balanced in acidity and volume ripe fruit aroma, with a potent, structured, persistent, warm and spicy flavour.
